Below you’ll find our most recent wartime update, but we want to begin this email with an important HopeHouse update and give you an opportunity to connect directly with our families.
HopeHouse International has set its ministry upon the foundation of prayer. Our very first initiative 22 years ago was to gather a prayer team that met every week to bring this ministry before the Lord. This prayer team was led by Bob Boren, who soon after became our treasurer for the next 15 years. Bob went home to be with the Lord Monday evening after battling cancer for several years.
In Bob’s honor, we would like to expand his legacy of prayer and invite you to write a specific prayer to be read by HopeHouse war victims in Ukraine. Through our partners at Epic Life Creative, your submitted prayers (identified by your first name and the state in which you live) will be gathered and sent digitally to our HopeHouse Families, Teams, Pastors and Churches throughout Ukraine. If you feel led, please click the link and let them know what is on your heart!
Thank you again for your overwhelming generosity to our designated UKRAINE: FAMILY EMERGENCY FUND. Your support allows us to run towards the doors open to us and respond immediately to evacuations and greatly needed humanitarian aid like food and medicines.
Hundreds of over-the-counter medicines traveled overseas last week and made it successfully through airport customs in Hungary. They have been divided into large packages and carried by a humanitarian aid partner over the Hungary-Ukraine border. Our staff in Ukraine is currently sending these packages to our families throughout the country. When these medicine packages arrive, our HopeHouse Families will be sharing them with thousands who are sheltered in churches around Ukraine. Through your giving, the Lord is ministering to the physical needs of a growing sphere of children and adults struggling with illness borne from their living conditions during this crisis.
Thank you also for praying for the Chali family. Our team attempts to contact them daily but unfortunately has not been able to reach them. They live 39 miles northwest of Kiev, and all humanitarian corridors to that city remain closed. There is still no electricity, but we are praying and believing that neighbors are taking care of neighbors. Please continue to pray – as our hope is in the power of prayer. Here are some examples of how God is answering prayers and how His light is piercing through the darkness of this war.
- Throughout the country jobs are on hold, so now churches are hosting prayer meetings each day that are filled to capacity as the community gathers to pray.
- Billboards all over Ukraine are covered with Bible verses and encouraging messages like “GOD IS WITH US!”
- Multitudes of people are hearing the Gospel and receiving salvation for the first time.
- Thirst for God’s Word and requests for Bibles have increased exponentially.
- Daily miracles continue to bring glory to God in the midst of evil.
- Spiritual revival is sweeping across the country.
Most impactful to me is the strength and courage demonstrated as Ukrainians stand up to the Goliath they face on their streets and in their skies. This kind of courage can only be the supernatural strength of the Lord as a result of constant prayers.
Please be encouraged: Your prayers matter! Your prayers make a difference! Your prayers precede miracles!
Gratefully, Deneen Turner
