I, Ivan, and my wife Lyudmila are Christians. But I was born in an unbelieving family. It was my grandmother who taught me how to pray.
As I grew up, I always cried when I saw television programs about orphans. I was filled with sympathy for the children who have no parents or grandparents to raise them.
Missionaries came to our village and invited me to their services. At first I refused, but now I’m immensely happy that God opened my heart to hearing His word. In the church, I met a beautiful girl, the daughter of our pastor. And soon she became my wife.
One day, we were invited to a small, local orphanage to help teach Bible lessons to the children. We talked with them about the love and mercy of our Father. After that day we began taking orphans home with us for the weekend and on vacation sometimes.
Thanks to God, nearly all the children from this orphanage were adopted. Only four orphans remained. My wife and I began to pray and realized that God had prepared us for this role. We are so thankful to God and to HopeHouse International for helping us build a house large enough to adopt these four children. We are so blessed.
