Ukraine Update – One Day After

Thank you to the many who have contacted us sharing your concerns and prayers for what is happening in Ukraine. It is heartbreaking to see what is unfolding across the country and in the lives of those who many of us know and love. Yuri, Co-Founder and International Director, has asked me to express his most heartfelt appreciation for the many prayers extended for Ukraine and for this ministry. They have been a great source of encouragement to him as he leads during this critical time.

I am sending this update to address some of the common questions we are being asked. Please know that this update is in real-time, and I will send further communications as significant changes occur.

  1. Yuri is safe. He and his wife are presently in Hungry, and he is working around the clock responding to calls from our HopeHouse families. He is directing logistics in providing assistance to those needing to evacuate.
  2. Yuri has secured an evacuation plan to the Carpathian Mountains in West Ukraine. He is working with a local HopeHouse family and church there to provide shelter and care for our team members as well as any HopeHouse families who need to evacuate. Today, we have four HopeHouse families traveling by train to that destination.
  3. We have extra security measures in place surrounding our financial procedures and relationships and most importantly, we do not bank in Ukraine.
  4. Most of our HopeHouse Families live in small villages where housing has always been most affordable. As of today, these small villages appear to be less vulnerable to attack than the bigger cities who are known to be military targets.

Specific Prayer Requests:

  1. Please pray for God’s favor and protection for our Ukrainian brothers and sisters in Christ, our HopeHouse Families and Team.
  2. Please pray divine wisdom for Yuri as his counsel is being sought out by our HopeHouse Families throughout Ukraine.
  3. Please pray protection for the five HopeHouse young adults who are serving in the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

Thank you again for your friendship to this ministry. Thank you for your encouraging texts and emails which mean so much, and I do pass them on to Yuri. To know that people are praying gives much strength and I want to emphasize how very much that means to him and to me.

With much appreciation,
Deneen and Yuri, Co-Founders
